Jungle Safaris are organized by Serenity Jungle Retreat twice a day. Morning safaris begin at 5:00 am and last till mid-day while evening safaris begin at 2:30 pm and end by sunset. Elephant Bathing activity is currently on at Mukki zone which our guests can witness first-hand. All Buffer-zones have also been made totally accessible thereby increasing the scope of interactions with Kanha wildlife. Owing to exceptionally high demands, kindly book your safari tickets well-in advance online or get in touch with Serenity management for the same at the time of your booking. Serenity provides packed breakfast meals to its guests, to be had inside the park at designated areas.
Kanha National Park, vicinity of which inspired the setting of Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book, is home to a healthy population of Royal Bengal Tigers. Moreover, it is the only ecosystem in the world that supports a population of Hardground Swamp Deer – Barasingha, Kanha's official mascot. The Sal and Savanna meadows of the reserve are home to many mammals such as the Spotted-Deer, Wild boar, Sambhar Deer, Indian Gaur Bison, Wild Dog, Leopard and Black Bear, amongst others. Birds such as Serpent Hawk-Eagle, Lesser-adjutant Stork, Egyptian Vulture and Red-naped Ibis etc. are also found. The Ghost Tree remains a lasting floral rarity.
Our guests are encouraged to wear jungle-friendly colours such as greens, beiges, and browns during their safaris. Carrying a pair of good binoculars and sun-glasses is always going to come in handy. Please note that Kanha is an extremely pristine environment and, therefore, guests must use the waste-disposal baskets provided in their vehicles only. Strictly, no littering.
Winter season in Kanha usually lasts from late-September till the end of February. As such, mornings and nights are very cold and days pleasantly cool. Summer season lasts from late-April till mid-July. The days get very hot and nights remain warm. The core area of the Park remains out of bounds during the rainy months of monsoon, typically from late-July till early-October. Please equip yourselves suitably.
